Dr. Owen Garriott, a NASA astronaut, wore a Seiko watch in his two flights in 1973 and 1983 and remained 72 days in space. Just this October, his son named Richard Garriott also wore a Seiko watch in his private space exploration. He was seen wearing a Seiko watch specifically the Seko Spring Drive which was made especially for this space trip.

This Spring Drive is customized to meet the needs in outer space. The watch is created with air tight case to endure the vacuum pressure present in the space environment. Since this watch will be brought to space, they anticipated the fact that they need a lightweight watch to enable free movement. They created the watch with a titanium case which is known to be lighter than but as strong as stainless material. The watch is also made with large push buttons so he could easily use the watch while wearing the thick suit used in space. The watch is designed with black dial but they included in it very bright luminescent hour markers and hands for excellent legibility which will be very helpful in such situation.

This Seiko watch is definitely a must have because of the functions and the stylishness that it can give you. Luckily enough, this watch will be available worldwide in December but only 100 pieces will be released and 3 of them will go to Richard Garriott.
